In 2013, Paul embarked on a mission to create a haven for fellow adventurers to feel at home during their travels, and thus, North Cascade Mountain Hostel (NCMH) was born. Over the years, NCMH has become a beloved base camp for explorers drawn to the incredible experiences the Methow Valley offers. Whether you’re a hiker or biker in the summer, a climber in the fall, a Nordic skier in the winter, or someone eager to float the Methow River in spring, NCMH has been the ideal launchpad for adventure.
Winthrop, with its unique Western-themed charm, is more than just a quirky destination—it’s a gateway to world-class outdoor activities. Nestled in this vibrant hub, NCMH has proudly served as your go-to spot for exploring everything the valley has to offer.
In 2023, we undertook a complete renovation of our main building to elevate your experience, preserving the hostel’s cozy atmosphere while modernizing its amenities. After months of dedicated work, we re-opened in July 2024. We can’t wait to welcome you back to a refreshed and reimagined NCMH, where new memories and adventures await!
