In 2013 We decided to create a place where fellow travelers can feel at home during their own travels… thus, North Cascade Mountain Hostel was born.
Since then, NCMH has become a go-to spot for those who are drawn to all that the Methow valley has to offer- whether it’s hikers and bikers in the summer, climbers in the Fall, Nordic skiers in the Winter, or those looking to float the Methow in the Spring. Winthrop is more than just a quirky western-themed town, it’s a haven of outdoor activities, and NCMH is your base camp.

After spending 15+ years working abroad in places like Antarctica, Greenland, and Papua New Guinea, Paul Smotherman decided to plant roots in the town of Winthrop, WA, because of its close proximity to excellent climbing and all that the North Cascades have to offer.
